Abstract

Computer science is not a Gymnasium subject, even though it has high general educational value: it links two different scientific approaches in one subject by combining mathematical and scientific foundations with engineering in product manufacture. (For more complete details see the enclosed Informatik und allgemeine Bildung [Computer Science and General Education] document). In this it also offers a natural bridge from mathematics and science to technology. There are, however, no computer science textbooks in secondary schools which address these general educational goals, and the schools and teachers who wish to teach computer science have problems orienting themselves.

In the framework of this project, teaching materials developed by the ITA chair will be tested experimentally in secondary school teaching. Teaching will be carried out by the proposer and his assistants and will also serve the continuing education and training of teachers. The tested teaching material and the findings will be made public.
