Small project: E-learning unit Hard Rocks in applied minerology
Abstract
The thematically linked lecture courses Rohstoffe der Erde [Raw materials of the earth] (Bachelors level) and Applied Mineralogy and environmental aspects I & II (Masters level) require a level-appropriate distribution of learning content at Bachelors and Masters degree levels. If students take both courses a direct continuation and extension of thematic content would be possible. In practice, however, because of the demands of differing degree programmes part of the material must be repeated in the Masters degree courses. The goal of the Masters course, though, is to illustrate aspects of applied minerology and geology using real examples and to shed light on the connected environmental aspects. It also makes students aware of the technical and scientific significance of the subject in industrial and economic decision-making.
