mt_EAST/update
Abstract
» mt _EAST is a course supported with new learning technologies. Its emphasis is remote collaboration as a form of cooperation for students at different universities.»
This career- and practice-oriented project represents an innovation in the context of location-less and problem-oriented cooperation. By extending its infrastructural setup it will be brought up to a technically and pedagogically professional level and made accessible to the entire ETH.
Using Marratech software will make it possible that the projects innovative efforts in the areas of didactics and technology will become more and more important. Learning forms can be extended further, to fully enable the participation of large numbers of people and create added pedagogical value.
Via a free pilot licence, Marratech software was tested successfully for two semesters. Obtaining a licence not only for the project but also for the whole ETH would make the experiences gathered in the project regarding remote collaboration accessible to all ETH members. An increase in efficiency would be realised by central obtaining of the licence and installation directly by NET.
This extension will pave the way for introducint mt_EAST as an institutionalised course at D-ARCH: prospectively from Autumn 2006 with a bridging solution and from Aurumn 2007 as an institutionalised course in the Masters degree system. Other departments could follow this example.
