Abstract

In this project a successfully implemented Filep project in the area of computer-supported ICT teaching at ETH Zurich will be transferred to secondary schools. The goal is to extend a pool of electronic learning material for use in the computer lab, and with its help to teach ICT competences on various ICT foundation themes directly on the computer. The learning material pool will both help to improve the quality of basic ICT teaching in secondary schools and serve to point up teaching in this area in the context of the ETHZ course in specialist informatics teaching and in teacher training. Adaptation and development of the learning material will be undertaken at a secondary school. In addition to creating learning material, know-how in how to deploy it in teaching will be provided to teaching staff. Here, together with the introduction of the consolidation subject Informatics the potential will emerge for the transfer of today’s ICT teaching for the natural sciences in the 1st and 2nd semesters at ETHZ to secondary schools (where it belongs). The proposed project is one of the projects planned during the foundation phase of the competence centre ‘Teaching and Learning in the Technical/Natural Sciences Context’.
