GEOTip – GEOTechnical Information Platform
GEOTip is an e-learning platform with an integrated knowledge-based system for soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
The platform has been conceived so that it could also be applied to other areas of natural science as well.
Abstract
GEOTip has been based on the early didactic successes of CALICE (Computer Aided Learning in Civil Engineering), and has been developed in two phases. The platform was created through funding from a Filep project and was presented initially in German for a Bachelor course in civil engineering. GEOTip was subsequently refined and extended for teaching students from a further education (MAS) course in natural hazards, and masters› programmes in geophysics and environmental engineering in English.
