Abstract

The current food science education program has undergone ad hoc adjustments over the past several decades. A fundamental revision is needed to modernise the programme to meet current and future professional career requirements. The Food Science Forward degree programme initiative aims to shape Food Science education so that graduates are well trained for positions in industry as well as research to make substantial contributions to food security in a rapidly changing society with cultural and technological adaptations. The training will also enable them to assume leadership positions. The process of revision is being conducted in close collaboration with the IFNH at ETH Zurich, external representatives from industry, academia and public offices, as well as student representatives and education experts, in order to develop a qualification profile that reflects future requirements. Based on this new profile, an adapted curriculum will be compiled to be launched in HS2023.
