E.Tutorials in the consolidation course in Informatics
Abstract
In their 4th semester students of the natural sciences (SS 2005: 172 students) attend a programming courses. In the context of a services lecture the Institute of Computational Science offers a foundation course and a consolidation course in programming. The foundation course is based on e-tutorials (see Filep project no. 112). With the help of this computer-supported tutorial students can acquire any basic programming competence they need to solve their independent final tasks. All exercises and tasks are problem-oriented and based on an interdisciplinary approach where learners acquire competences via active, self-directed application. On the basis of the positive evaluation results of the foundation course we would now like to deploy e-tutorials in the consolidation course.
Because up to now e-tutorials have been used primarily to impart conceptual knowledge and skills, they need to be further developed to meet the requirements of the consolidation course. The professions programming environment Delphi will be integrated into the e-tutorials and the lectures will be adapted. The course will then be evaluated according to pre-defined criteria and the results will be the basis for its further development and improvement.
