D-USYS Studiengangsinitative²

Degree programme developments
In view of societal challenges and PAKETH, we are revising our BSc programmes AGRW and UMNW with broad support from the department. The aims are to develop competence-orientated curricula, innovative teaching formats and the implementation of PAKETH. As a PAKETH pilot project, we are cooperating with a large number of external partners to promote the transfer of experience and knowledge.

Abstract

In view of the substantial societal challenges ahead, the imminent implementation of PAKETH and the changing needs of practice, research, lecturers, and students at D-USYS, we are planning to jointly revise our two BSc study programmes in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. As a result of intense deliberations within our department over more than a year, we have the broad support of all departmental bodies and are looking forward to tackling our double revision project “Studiengangsinitiative²”.

We are pursuing four objectives in this project:
(1) the further development of our two competence-oriented BSc curricula,
(2) the overarching implementation of innovative, project-based teaching and learning formats,
(3) the implementation of PAKETH and all resulting requirements, and
(4) the use of synergies within D-USYS and ETH Zurich while preserving the identity of the two BSc study programmes.

For the realisation of our project, we rely on the collaboration with partners external to D-USYS, such as the UTL Curriculum Development team and the ETH Library. In addition, we are striving to work closely with the PAKETH project team as our implementation partner. We promote knowledge transfer by actively participating in the development of support services at UTL for the implementation of PAKETH and serving as a pilot project to identify and help to solve challenges in our department and for ETH at large.
